Foreign students visit AA headquarter in Ankara

ANKARA (AA) – Foreign students in Turkey visited the Anadolu Agency head offices in Ankara Wednesday as part of the “Second International Young Communicators Meeting” organized by the Turkish Directorate General of Press and Information.

Anadolu Agency’s project manager of the Corporate Cooperations Directorate Nezahat Kocabiyik informed 26 students from 16 countries about the agency’s history, organizational structure, activities and programs.

Kocabiyik said Anadolu Agency continues to boost its activities worldwide with an average daily broadcast of 1,190 news stories, 1,900 photographs, and 310 videos in 11 languages.

She pointed out that Anadolu Agency offices were present in 35 countries. The agency also has correspondents in 86 countries, she added.

“We can say Anadolu Agency is the backbone of the media in Turkey,” stressed Kocabiyik.

She added that 40 percent of news stories appearing in Turkish national newspapers and 63 percent of their photographs were provided by Anadolu Agency.

Anadolu Agency’s marketing director, Yunus Celik, added: “The needs of media market are changing day after day. Anadolu Agency provides the needs of the market according to the market’s actual needs.”

News Academy deputy coordinator Hayri Cetinkus also informed the visitors about the academy’s history and goals.

“The news academy aims to train its own correspondents, and also carries out in-company training courses. Anadolu Agency combines the field experience with scientific background,” Cetinkus said.

Anadolu Agency’s News Academy was established as part of the agency’s centennial goals for 2020. For the past three years, the academy has held frequent seminars and provided a number of training programs.
