ISTANBUL (AA) – Multiple people have been killed as a tree fell during a religious festival on the Portuguese island of Madeira, local media reported on Tuesday.
Reports said at least 11 people died while nearly 35 others injured when the tree fell on a large crowd outside a church around midday local time (1200GMT) during the traditional Festa da Senhora do Monte event.
Video footage from the scene posted online also showed rescue workers moving to help the injured.
