F1: Mercedes' Hamilton wins Hungarian Grand Prix

ANKARA (AA) – Mercedes' British driver Lewis Hamilton won on Sunday the third race of the 2020 Formula 1 season at the Hungaroring track near the capital Budapest.

Hamilton, 35, started the race in the pole position, came first, finishing 70 laps in one hour, 36 minutes and 12 seconds. It was his 86th career win.

Red Bull's Dutch driver Max Verstappen took second place, 8.7 seconds behind Hamilton while Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas from Finland came third, 9.4 seconds behind the British driver.

With the eighth Hungarian Grand Prix title, Hamilton leveled Michael Schumacher's single-venue record.

The F1 legend came first at the Grand Prix de France in Magny-Cours eight times in his career.

Meanwhile, Bottas finished in the first place in the season-opening of the Austrian Grand Prix, while Hamilton came first in the second race.

All races were held behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic.
