ANKARA (AA) – Thursday's EuroLeague basketball game between Spain's Valencia Basket and Italy’s AX Armani Exchange Milan will be closed to fans and other spectators due to the coronavirus.

"To guarantee the safety and security of participating players, coaches and referees, to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and to maintain the regularity of the competition, no individuals – including fans, VIPs, nor additional club staff members – will be allowed access to the arena," the league said Wednesday.

Players, coaching staff, referees, unified scorers, TV production company personnel, arena operations staff and medical staff will be the only ones allowed access to the venue at the La Fonteta Dome of Valencia at 2200 GMT Thursday.

The virus has claimed 3,198 lives in 77 countries with 93,094 cases reported, according to the latest World Health Organization figures.
