KIEV (AA) – Health authorities in the Eurasian and Central Asian countries on Friday reported new coronavirus cases, related deaths, and recoveries.
– Ukraine
The death toll in Ukraine reached 4,261 with 68 more fatalities reported over the past 24 hours, country’s Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said.
Confirming another 4,633 cases that brought the total to 217,661, the minister added that 96,591 have recovered from the virus so far with 2,193 additions.
More than 50,000 coronavirus tests were performed over the past 24 hours in the country.
– Georgia
Georgia's Prime Ministry said in a statement the caseload reached 7,134 with 453 new infections.
Recoveries have reached 3,714 as 295 more patients regained health. A total of 836 patients are currently monitored for the novel infection at hospitals while nearly 5,392 people are in quarantine.
So far, the former Soviet republic has confirmed 46 deaths with two new fatalities.
– Uzbekistan
In a statement, the Health Ministry in Uzbekistan said 264 more people contracted the virus, taking the total number of cases to 57,454. The death toll has risen to 469 with one new fatality.
Another 120 people recovered from the disease, bringing the count to 53,955, which approximately translates into a 94% recovery rate.
In the country, 3,027 people are getting medical treatment.
– Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan reported 215 more cases, raising its total to 47,056. The death toll remained at 1,065, while the number of recoveries stood at 43,137 with 154 additions.
As many as 2,399 patients are getting medical treatment.
– Kazakhstan
In Kazakhstan, 65 new infections raised the overall count to 108,044. Recoveries increased by 91 to reach 103,028, while three fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,737, the Health Ministry said.
In the country, 3,279 patients, including 64 children, are under treatment.
The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed more than 1.02 million lives in 188 countries and regions since last December.
The US, India, Brazil, and Russia are currently the worst-hit countries.
More than 34.32 million cases have been reported worldwide, while nearly 23.88 million patients have recovered, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
