Egypt's al-Sisi meets Chinese defense minister in Cairo

<p>By Mohamed al-Rayes</p> <p>CAIRO (AA) – Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Monday held talks with Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe in Cairo, according to a statement released by al-Sisi’s office.</p> <p>The meeting reportedly tackled “bilateral cooperation on the security and military levels and the ongoing fight against terrorism”.</p> <p>Al-Sisi also stressed his country's desire to consolidate its ties with China, extolling the two countries’ “positive and strategic” partnership.</p> <p>Wei, for his part, called for stepped-up cooperation in the defense and security fields.</p> <p>Recent years have seen increasingly close military cooperation between Cairo and Beijing.</p> <p>*Writing by Mahmoud Barakat</p>
