According to an Egyptian army statement, the drills — dubbed the “Hamad 3 ” exercises — will last for an unspecified number of days.

The statement goes on to describe the wargames as “one of the Gulf region’s most important joint drills, including numerous activities and exercises aimed at enhancing and integrating our warfighting capabilities”.

According to the army, the drills will include “training in joint air and sea combat management using advanced air and naval tactics”.

The volatile Middle East has recently seen an uptick in joint military exercises involving both Arab and foreign militaries.
