Driver’s wife linked to 2015 Ankara bombing remanded

ANKARA (AA) – The wife of the suspect linked to the October 2015 twin bomb attack in Ankara that killed more than 100 people has been remanded in custody, a judicial source said on Monday.

The Ankara courthouse ordered that Esin Altintug, the wife of the taxi driver Halil Ibrahim Durgun who allegedly brought the suicide bombers to Ankara, be remanded.

Altintug was among the 36 people arrested with suspected links to the October bomb attack in Ankara.

Durgun blew himself up during a police operation in southeastern Gaziantep province in November 2015, according to Turkish security sources .

The October 2015 Ankara train station bombing, in which more than 100 people were killed, targeted protesters gathered for a peace rally. Turkish prosecutors said the Daesh terrorist organization was behind the attack.
