KAYSERI, Turkey (AA) – A Turkish court in central Kayseri province on Tuesday handed down a jail term to an Iraqi national over links to Daesh terrorist group.
The High Criminal Court in Kayseri sentenced Amin al-Kurdi to six-years-and-three-months prison for membership in terrorist organization.
Al-Kurdi stood trial over charges of being the terror group's regional head in Tal Afar, an Iraqi town located west of Mosul.
Security forces have been involved in a long-running campaign to clear Daesh terrorists from Turkey.
More than 300 people have lost their lives so far in Daesh-claimed attacks in Turkey, where the terror group has targeted civilians in suicide bombings and rocket and gun attacks.
