COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Oman, Morocco

ANKARA (AA) – Two Arab nations reported new deaths and cases from the coronavirus over the last 24 hours, as the region continues to struggle with the pandemic, health authorities said Wednesday.

Morocco's Health Ministry confirmed two more fatalities from COVID-19, bringing the tally to 167. The number of cases rose to 4,289, while recoveries reached to 890.

The number of cases in Oman rose to 2,274 as 143 more people tested positive for the virus, according to country's Health Ministry.

The death toll in the country stands at 10, while 364 people have recovered so far, the ministry added.

After originating in China last December, COVID-19 has spread to at least 185 countries and regions. Europe and the US are currently the worst-hit regions.

The pandemic has killed more than 217,500 worldwide, with total infections above 3.12 million, while nearly 934,000 patients have recovered, according to figures compiled by the US-based Johns Hopkins University.
