RIYADH (AA) – Tunisia’s Health Ministry confirmed Wednesday one new case of the coronavirus, increasing the total number of cases in the country to seven.

The infected individual contracted the virus after returning from Egypt, said Health Minister Abdellatif Mekki.

On March 4, the Tunisian Health Ministry had said that 996 people are in medical home quarantine over suspicion of being infected with the novel coronavirus.

The virus originated in Wuhan, China last December, and has since spread to 114 countries.

The global death toll is nearly 4,300, with more than 118,000 confirmed cases, according to the WHO, which has declared the outbreak “a global pandemic.”
