Coronavirus cases in Ghana surpass 15,000

ABUJA, Nigeria (AA) – The total number of COVID-19 infections in Ghana has exceeded 15,000, the country’s health authorities said on Thursday, as 460 cases were reported over the last 24 hours.

While confirmed cases rose to 15,473, the nationwide death toll stood at 95.

The total number of recovered patients in the country reached 11,431.

Ghana’s capital Accra, Ashanti, Western and Central regions are the worst-hit areas.

Since originating in Wuhan, China last December, the pandemic has claimed over 484,000 lives in 188 countries and regions.

More than 9.49 million cases have been reported worldwide, while over 4.78 million patients have recovered, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
