Car explodes in Egyptian capital; 9 injured

CAIRO (AA) – A car caught fire and exploded in the center of Egyptian capital Cairo on Monday, according to local media.

Local media quoted a civil defense official as saying a faulty battery may have caused the explosion in Dokki district in central Cairo.

The explosion has hit a minibus passing nearby, leaving both cars in flames, he said.

According to the Health Ministry, nine people were injured in the explosion.

Egyptian authorities have yet to unveil the exact cause of the explosion.
