ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.14 percent or 141.35 points to open at 103,078.49 points on Monday.
On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped by 1.09 percent to close the day at 102,937.14 points with a daily trading volume of 7.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.36 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.2270 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to the last week's closing rate of 5.2130.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.9830, versus 5.9860 at the last close. One British pound traded for 6.8470 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.8120 at market close on Friday.
The price of Brent oil rose to $62.80 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday, versus $61.66 at Friday's close.
