ANKARA (AA) – Istanbul’s BIST 100 shares index edged up 0.41 percent to open at 78,296.85 points on Monday.

The rising value of shares in banks and large corporations — up 0.54 percent and 0.41 percent respectively compared to Friday — led the increase.

The Turkish lira’s exchange rate against the U.S. dollar fell 0.1 percent from Friday to 3.0470 liras to the dollar at the start of trading.

August’s industrial production index for Turkey, which is due to be released late Monday morning, is expected to be the main influence on the markets.
