Borsa Istanbul flat at opening

ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index decreased 108.4 points to open at 80,783.00 on Friday in its first transactions.

On the last opening session of the week, the country’s benchmark index started with a 0.13 percent decrease.

The banking and holding sector indexes declined by 0.26 and 0.21 percent, respectively. The insurance trusts sector index rose the most, by 0.55 percent. The commerce index saw the biggest drop, 0.42 percent, in initial transactions.

Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to stand at 3.7940 at 9.30 a.m. (0630GMT) Friday, compared to 3.7980 at Thursday’s close.

Gold held at $1,195.63 an ounce.

U.S. crude futures rose by 0.13 percent to $53.03 a barrel, while benchmark Brent crude futures increased by 0.12 percent to $56.08.
