ANKARA (AA) – Bayern Munich dominated Schalke in a shutout victory in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Bayern led at the end of the first half 2-0 at Allianz Arena as Polish star Robert Lewandowski and German forward Thomas Muller each found Schalke’s net.

Former Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka made it 3-0 in the 5o minute with a volley inside the penalty area.

Thiago Alcantara and Serge Gnabry were the other scorers, clinching the 5-0 victory.

This season Lewandowski, 31, leads the top scorers list with 21 goals in Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich moved to the second spot in the standings with 39 points. Meanwhile Schalke is currently in fifth with 33 points in Bundesliga.

The German league has an exciting title race with at least four teams — RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund — competing to claim the Bundesliga title.

League leaders RB Leipzig upset fans Saturday with a 2-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt, with goals coming from Almamy Toure and Filip Kostic.

Despite the defeat, Leipzig topped Bundesliga with 40 points.

Bayern Munich has 39 points and is chasing Leipzig.

Monchengladbach earned 38 points in 19 matches and Dortmund is fourth with 36.
