At least 30 dead in bus fire in China: report

By Mahmut Atanur

BEIJING (AA) – At least 30 people were killed Sunday when a passenger bus caught fire in China after crashing into guardrails on a highway in central Hunan province.

The state-owned China Radio International cited the government of Yizhang County as saying that the vehicle, which was carrying 56 people, may have burst into flames due to an ensuing oil leak.

Those injured — whose number was not reported — were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Police took the driver of the bus into custody and rescuers continue searching the charred vehicle.
