DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (AA) – Turkish forces killed at least one PKK terrorist in southeastern Diyarbakir province, Governor’s Office said in a statement Tuesday.
According to the statement, the counter-terrorism operation launched on Sep. 8 in Dicle and Kulp districts of the province ended successfully on Monday.
It said gendarme forces killed one PKK terrorist on Monday in the Kulp district and seized a machine gun with 179 cartridges, two AK-47 rifles and 50 M-16 cartridges.
Elsewhere, 60,640 plants of cannabis were seized in Hazro district during anti-narcotics operation, the statement added.
The PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU — resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015. Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians.
