Another Gazan martyred by Israeli cross-border fire

GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – A Palestinian man was martyred on Tuesday after being shot in the head by Israeli troops near the Gaza Strip’s eastern border amid ongoing protests against the Israeli occupation.

According to Ashraf al-Qidra, a spokesman for the Palestinian Health Ministry, Nasser Ahmed Mahmoud Ghorab, 51, was shot and killed by Israeli forces deployed along the fraught Gaza-Israel border.

The fatality brings the total number of Palestinian protesters to have been killed since yesterday to 61, according to al-Qidra, who put the number of injuries at some 2,770 for the same period.

Scores of Palestinians were killed while staging mass rallies along the border on Monday, which coincided with the 70th anniversary of Israel’s establishment — an event Palestinians remember as “The Catastrophe”.

Since the Gaza rallies kicked off on Mar. 30, more than 100 Palestinians have been killed — and thousands more injured — by intense cross-border gunfire by the Israeli army.
