Anadolu Agency trains Lebanese journalists in Ankara

ANKARA (AA) – Anadolu Agency’s News Academy launched a journalism training course in association with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) for Lebanese journalists in Ankara Monday.

The course is part of the agency’s international journalism program.

A group of 15 journalists from Lebanon with different skill sets in media and television journalism are attending the week-long course, which covers photojournalism, cameras and features and new media among a host of subjects.

Anadolu Agency’s Foreign Languages News Desk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Ozturk said: “Anadolu Agency is continuing its training initiatives, locally and internationally. Lebanon has a diverse culture, these participants are journalists from the country’s influential media outlets.

“The purpose of the training is to share our agency’s international and local experience in journalism. This training also provides journalists an opportunity to exchange their experiences, which is meaningful for both sides,” he added.

News Academy Deputy Coordinator Hayri Cetinkus said: “Regardless of their religions, nation, color and sects, the Middle East is very important for us.”

Cetinkus added the participants will visit Anadolu Agency headquarters, Turkish Radio and Television Cooperation, Turkish Foreign Ministry and Presidency of Religious Affairs as part of the program.

Maria Joumaa, a participant who writes for a French magazine in Lebanon, said: “I think it will be good experience for us. Because Anadolu Agency is known worldwide, which makes me so excited. I guess, it will be very interesting for me.”

Another participant Nour Charaf said: “I want to learn more. I guess this program will open for us new horizons in the journalism field.”

The training program runs till April 30.

Certificates will be awarded to participants upon successful completion of the training.
