ANKARA (AA) – An online training program for new generation journalism organized by Anadolu Agency and Turkey's state-run aid agency TIKA kicked off on Tuesday.

The 3-day training is being held via videoconferencing. It is being conducted in English language for more than 90 media representatives from 24 countries.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Anadolu Agency's News Academy Director Bora Bayraktar expressed his happiness to see participants from regions such as the Balkans, Central Asia, and North Africa where he worked as a journalist.

Bayraktar said the power and influence of journalism, a field that requires constant expertise and development, will continue to increase.

Noting that many important names in history worked as journalists in their lifetime, he said journalism is the right profession for people with ideas and ideals.

Mustafa Hasim Polat, the coordinator of TIKA’s training projects, said the aid agency carries out education, health and infrastructure projects in many countries.

Workshops and programs for capacity building of media personnel, in cooperation with institutions such as Anadolu Agency and TRT, will continue, he added.

Anadolu Agency's News Academy Manager Cihangir Isbilir also expressed his satisfaction vis-à-vis the training program.
