ANKARA (AA) – A large scale “Peace Operation” was carried out here Tuesday with more than 8,000 police officers, a security source told Anadolu Agency.
Riot police, narcotic and traffic teams were accompanied by special operations forces in the campaign that was the largest-ever of its kind in Turkey.
The operation aimed to maintain public safety ahead of the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha next week, according to the source who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
