7 Colombian dancers stranded at Istanbul airport

ISTANBUL (AA) – Seven Colombian dancers have been stranded at the Istanbul airport for the last 12 days with no means to buy tickets for home.

A dance troupe of 12 came to Turkey's Mediterranean resort city of Antalya this summer. They quit after an agreement with their employers.

Five dancers of this group bought tickets to Colombia using their own money, but others are stuck in the departure terminal of the Ataturk Airport, sleeping on benches and cardboard sheets.

The airport staff has begun a campaign to raise funds for their tickets.

The dancers are waiting for help from the Colombian Consulate in Istanbul.
