SIRNAK, Turkey (AA) – Five PKK terrorists were “neutralized ” Tuesday in Turkey's southeastern Sirnak province, according to security sources.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized ” in their statements to imply the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said the terrorists were spotted by a drone.

An air operation was then conducted near Gabar Mountain in Sirnak, the sources said.

They added that the operation was ongoing.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — has been responsible for the death of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
