ANKARA (AA) – At least 4,571 PKK terrorists have been killed by Turkish security forces since July 22, 2015, when the most recent round of counter-terrorism operations began in response to the terrorist group resuming attacks, a security source said Wednesday.
According to a security official who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions of speaking to the media, in anti-terror operations in Turkey and northern Iraq, 4,571 terrorists were killed, 695 were captured with injuries, 716 were captured without injuries, and 641 gave themselves up. The total number of PKK terrorists “neutralized” is thus 6,623.
The PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU — resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
