ANKARA (AA) – Four PKK terrorists have been killed and two others captured in the eastern Turkish province of Bingol’s Genc district, said the Turkish General Staff on Friday.

In addition, Turkish fighter jets hit PKK targets in northern Iraq’s Haftanin region as well as in the southeastern Turkish province of Diyarbakir’s Lice district, added the General Staff in a statement early Friday.

Several PKK members were killed in the airstrikes, which occurred on Thursday, said the statement without specifying how many. It added that several PKK shelters were destroyed in Iraq.

The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, nearly 600 security personnel, including troops, police officers, and village guards, have been martyred, and more than 5,000 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
