ANKARA (AA) – At least three UN peacekeepers were killed by an unidentified armed group in southeastern Central African Republic (CAR).

In a statement issued on Friday, Stephane Dujarric, a spokesman for the UN Secretary General, said the soldiers of the UN peacekeeping mission and Central African Armed Forces were attacked by an unidentified armed group while they were patrolling in Dekoa.

“Three peacekeepers from Burundi were killed and two others were wounded,” the statement added.

Reminding that attacks against UN peacekeepers may constitute a war crime, Dujarric called on the Central African Republic authorities to investigate the heinous attacks and swiftly bring perpetrators to justice.
