ANKARA (AA) – At least two PKK/PYD-YPG terrorists have been neutralized during counter-terrorism operations in southeastern Turkey, according to the military on Wednesday.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized ” to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

Border security forces neutralized two terror group members during the counter-terrorism operation in Nusaybin, a district of southeastern Mardin province, General Staff said in a statement on its official website.

The military also said 250 rounds of heavy machinery guns and various equipments were searched in southeastern Hakkari's Semdinli district.

Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU, the PKK has waged a wide-ranging terror campaign against the Turkish state since the mid-1980s, in which an estimated 40,000 people have been killed.
