HAKKARI, Turkey (AA) – Two PKK terrorists who had grenades with them were arrested in southeastern Hakkari province, the regional governor's office said on Tuesday.

Local gendarmerie forces had stopped a van for security checks in Hakkari’s Cukurca district when they seized four hand grenades from the PKK terrorists' bags, the office said in a statement.

Following testimonies from the arrested terrorists, security forces launched an operation at an address and arrested five more people for allegedly aiding and abetting the terror group, the statement added.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU. The group waged a terror campaign against Turkey for more than 30 years and has been responsible for the death of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.
