SIRNAK, Turkey (AA) – Turkish security forces “neutralized ” two PKK terrorists in the southeastern province of Sirnak on Thursday.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized ” in their statements to imply the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

Security sources, who asked not to be named, told Anadolu Agency that the two PKK terrorists were neutralized in an anti-terror operation in the Cudi mountain area in Sirnak.

Terrorists had reportedly opened fire on the security units.

Weapons such as M-16 and Kalashnikov infantry rifles, four grenades and eight magazines were seized.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.
