JERUSALEM (AA) – Two Israeli soldiers were killed and three others injured in a bomb blast in Israel-occupied Golan Heights on Sunday.

The Israeli army said in a statement that a grenade exploded near a military post, killing two soldiers and injuring three others.

The statement gave no further details about the incident.

The Israeli army said an investigation has been launched into the explosion.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces shot at a drone over the Golan Heights on Sunday.

The army said in a statement that two Patriot missiles were fired at the drone.

“Moments ago two Patriot air defense missiles were fired towards a drone which infiltrated Israeli airspace from Syria,” an army spokesperson said.

It was unclear whether the drone was hit by the missiles.

The Syrian Golan Heights was occupied during the 1967 Middle East war and formally annexed by Israel in 1981 in a move that was never recognized internationally.
