2 die at sea as Storm Dennis fast approaching UK

LONDON (AA) – At least two people died off the coast of Kent, England as Storm Dennis is fast approaching the U.K. on Saturday.

A teenager was found dead in Herne Bay after having difficulty in the sea, according to local media reports.

Another body was recovered by the coastguard after a distress signal from a Maltese ship.

"At around 1pm (1300 GMT), after many hours of searching, a body was sadly found in the water by the RNLI Margate lifeboat and has been brought to shore," a coastguard spokesman was quoted to have said by Sky News.

The distress call was thought to have come from a Maltese tanker anchored off the Margate coast early in the morning.

The storm is expected to bring to the U.K. gusts of up to 70mph (113kmph).

British meteorologists have issued several warnings as Storm Dennis is also expected to cause heavy rains.

Last week, Storm Ciara battered Ireland and the U.K. with very strong winds, disrupting air travel across the region before moving into Europe.
