WASHINGTON (AA) – At least two people were killed Friday in separate shootings in Maryland, according to officials.

The suspect, 62-year-old Eulalio Tordil, was also wanted in connection to the killing of his wife, Gladys Tordil, 44, a day earlier.

Tordil is a law enforcement officer with the Federal Protective Service.

In the first shooting Friday, one male was killed and two others — one male and one female — were injured, outside a mall in Bethesda, an area close to the nation’s capital, police said.

The wounded male is in critical condition at a local hospital.

In the other shooting at a shopping center near the fist incident, a woman was killed outside a grocery store.

Tordil was taken into custody by the Montgomery county police.

Officials lifted a shelter in place order that had been issued for the majority of schools in the area. A lockdown on recreational centers were also lifted, according to the county’s Twitter account.

Police say the shootings may be related, media reports said.
