TUNCELI, Turkey (AA) – At least 10 PKK terrorists were neutralized during an anti-terror operation in eastern Tunceli province, according to an official statement on Monday.
Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized ” in their statements to imply the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.
In a statement, the Tunceli Governor's Office said the terrorists were neutralized when a provincial gendarmerie unit launched an anti-terror operation in rural Pulumur district after receiving a tip-off from locals.
The anti-terror operation continues in the region, the statement added.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — has been responsible for the death of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
