NINEVEH, Iraq (AA) – Iraqi security forces on Wednesday arrested 10 Daesh terrorists in the northern city of Mosul, according to a local police chief.

The ten were rounded up during a security operation in Al-Islah Al-Zeraei district in western Mosul, Nineveh police chief Hamad al-Jabouri told Anadolu Agency.

Meanwhile, a Defense Ministry officer who preferred anonymity said security forces have a database of all fugitive Daesh terrorists and other militants convicted of terrorism crimes.

Late last year, officials in Baghdad declared that Daesh's military presence in Iraq had been all but eliminated. However, it appears the notorious terrorist group still maintains “sleeper cells” in several parts of the country, including oil-rich Kirkuk province.
