ANKARA (AA) – At least two PKK terrorists were neutralized in Turkey's southeastern Diyarbakir province, the local governor's office said in a statement on Monday.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized ” in their statements to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

The terrorists were neutralized during an operation against PKK in Hani district on late Sunday, the statement said.

They were perpetrators of an attack on May 24 in which sergeant Ugur Saglam was martyred.

Two long barreled weapons, a rocket launcher, a pistol and a hand grenade were also seized in the operation, it added.

The PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — waged a terror campaign against Turkey for more than 30 years and has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people.

More than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children, have been killed since July 2015 alone when the group resumed its armed campaign against the country.
