AMMAN (AA) – Prince William, the duke of Cambridge and second in line to the British throne, visited Jordan’s ancient city of Jerash on Monday.

William, who arrived in the Hashemite Kingdom on Sunday, was accompanied on his visit to Jerash by Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah.

Under security escorts, the two princes visited several of the ancient city’s Roman monuments, including its Southern Amphitheater and Colonnaded Street.

While at the Southern Theater, William met with a handful of Jordanian and Syrian children, according to an Anadolu Agency correspondent at the scene.

According to his official itinerary, William will leave Jordan for neighboring Palestine before visiting Israel, the last leg of his tour.
