Turkey receives 32,000+ trademark applications in Q1

By Gokhan Ergocun</p> <p>ISTANBUL (AA) – The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TurkPatent) received a total of 32,356 trademark applications — 28,197 of them domestic — in the first quarter of 2019.</p> <p>The number of trademark applications rose by 1.2% year-on-year in the three-month period, according to TurkPatent data released on Monday.</p> <p>TurkPatent also received 4,056 patent applications — 447 domestic and 976 foreign — in January-March period, up 4.7% on a yearly basis.</p> <p>Meanwhile, the office received 718 utility models and 11,762 design applications during the first quarter of the current year.</p> <p>Last year, 120,008 trademarks,18,504 patents, 2,770 utility models, and 42,083 design applications were made.
