Turkey: 2 Daesh suspects remanded in custody

ISTANBUL (AA) – Two Daesh suspects were remanded in custody on Wednesday for providing financial and military support to the terror organization, a security source said.

The suspects had been arrested in mid-March during an anti-terror operation conducted in several districts of Istanbul. The suspects — identified by the initials M.S and S.B. — were accused of carrying out money transfers for the terrorist group and providing them with military materials.

The police also seized 8.5 kilograms of gold, 25 kg of silver, as well as various foreign currencies including 1,794,000 Turkish liras, $1.3 million, €118,000, 1,921,000 Syrian pounds, 4,500 Qatari dinar, 22,000 Egyptian pounds, 350 Kuwait dinar, 109,500 Saudi riyal, 47,000 United Arab Emirates dinar, 5,000 Jordanian dinar, 1,610 British sterling and 100 Canadian dollars.

The police also seized a number of weapons, ammunition, hidden cameras and hidden camera tracers.
