Italy to expel 54 Ajax fans ahead of Juventus match

            By Senhan Bolelli</p>  <p>MADRID (AA) - Italy will expel 54 Dutch Ajax fans after they were found to be in possession of weapons a day before the team’s Champions League clash against Juventus, the country’s Interior Ministry said Monday.</p>  <p>Police stopped two buses of Ajax supporters on the outskirts of Turin and confiscated knives, fireworks, pepper spray, flares, a hammer and a baton. They will be expelled after identity checks.</p>  <p>&quot;Thanks to the police. No one can be permitted to come to Italy to cause trouble. Our stadiums and our cities are closed to those who are violent,&quot; Interior Minister Matteo Salvini told reporters.</p>  <p>Dutch police similarly prevented some 120 Juventus fans from entering Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam earlier this month before the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals and some of them were detained after violence erupted between fans of the two teams.</p>  <p>*Writing by Sibel Morrow</p>  <p> 

Liverpool beat Porto in Champions League match

            By Fatih Erel</p>  <p>ISTANBUL (AA) – English club Liverpool beat Portuguese powerhouse Porto FC 2-0 Tuesday as the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals got underway.</p>  <p>Hosts Liverpool got off to the perfect start, with Naby Keita scoring the first goal in the fifth minute. His right-footed effort deflected off Porto midfielder Oliver Torres and looped past goalkeeper Iker Casillas.</p>  <p>Brazilian international Roberto Firmino was left with a simple finish from close range to score Liverpool's second goal in the 26th minute.</p>  <p>English clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City also met, with Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris saving a penalty shot by striker Sergio Aguero in the 13th minute.</p>  <p>Tottenham's Son Heung-min was the savior as he scored a goal in the 78th minute to end the game at 1-0 to gain an advantage over Manchester City before the second-leg match next week.</p>  <p>The both second-leg matches will be played on April 17. </p>  <p>On Wednesday, Ajax will take on Juventus while Manchester United will face Barcelona at home in UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first-leg matches.</p>  <p> 

UEFA Champions League quarterfinals to kick off Tuesday

Champions League quarterfinal, semifinal draws Friday

                  By Fatih Erel</p>    <p>ISTANBUL (AA) - The UEFA Champions League draw ceremony for the quarterfinals and semifinals will be held on Friday.</p>    <p>The ceremony will take place in Nyon, Switzerland at 1100GMT.</p>    <p>Four teams from England, and one team each from Spain, Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands will compete in the quarterfinals. </p>  <p> </p>  <p><br>

Manchester United knock PSG out of Champions League

             By Can Erozden</p>    <p>ANKARA (AA) - Manchester United bagged UEFA Champions League quarter final ticket after they eliminated Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from the tournament by winning on away goals late Wednesday.</p>    <p>The PSG were surprisingly beaten by Manchester United 3-1 in the second leg of round 16 in Paris.</p>    <p>Manchester United's Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku scored an early goal, PSG left back Juan Bernat netted the equalizer.</p>    <p>In the 30th minute, Lukaku scored the leading goal for Manchester United again.</p>    <p>Visitors' forward Marcus Rashford converted a very late penalty successfully, which brought the 3-1 victory for Manchester United.</p>    <p>So, the English side qualified for the quarter finals in the Champions League.</p>    <p>The PSG had won the first leg 2-0 in Manchester but the French giants were eliminated over the 3-1 loss at Parc des Princes.</p>    <p>In the other game of the night, Porto beat Italy's Roma 3-1, eliminating them after extra time in Portugal.</p>    <p>The first half of the second leg at Estadio do Dragao ended 1-1 as Porto forward Francisco Soares and Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi scored.</p>    <p>Porto forward Moussa Marega scored the leading goal for his team in the 52nd minute and the game went to extra time over the 2-1 Porto lead.</p>    <p>Former Galatasaray left back Alex Telles sealed the last 8 phase for Porto, scoring a penalty in the 117th minute.</p>    <p>Roma had won the first leg 2-1, however Porto proceeded on their way in the Champions League.</p>    <p>The Champions League last 16 round will end next week.

Champions League: Dortmund seeking miracle in London

             By Can Erozden</p>    <p>ANKARA (AA) - German football club Borussia Dortmund will look to complete a miracle against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie as the English club won the first leg 3-0 in London.</p>    <p>Tottenham took the advantage to claim the quarter finals ticket in the Champions League as Spurs' South Korean midfielder Heung-Min Son, Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen and Spanish striker Fernando Llorente netted second half goals against Dortmund at Wembley Stadium.</p>    <p>Dortmund will try to achieve a difficult task against Tottenham at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday evening in the second leg match.</p>    <p>In this game, Tottenham may lack their English star Dele Alli suffering from hamstring injury but English striker Harry Kane will be available.</p>    <p>Kane missed the first leg as he sustained an ankle injury.</p>    <p>Dortmund's Polish veteran right back Lukasz Piszczek is likely to miss the match as he is sidelined by injury.</p>    <p>&quot;It's important to start the game at a very good level -- be aggressive, fight from the beginning, high tempo, that is the key,&quot; Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said.</p>    <p>&quot;It's a great opportunity to play and go through to the next round in an important competition like the Champions League. Tomorrow is going to be a tough game. We need to forget the first leg,&quot; Pochettino added.</p>    <p>Meanwhile Dortmund manager Lucien Favre warned his players to play &quot;very cleverly&quot; to qualify for the next stage.</p>    <p>&quot;Every game is different. The first leg is done and this is a different situation. We know we can score goals, but as I said, we have to play very cleverly,&quot; Favre said.</p>    <p>&quot;We know it is tough, but you never know,&quot; he added.</p>    <p>Separately Dortmund's German star Marco Reus encouraged his teammates to eliminate Tottenham.</p>    <p>&quot;Games that have made history have been played in this stadium. It is important to find the right balance between defense and attack,&quot; Reus said.</p>  <p> </p>  <p>- Real Madrid target Ajax </p>  <p>In the other Round of 16 game of Tuesday, Spanish giants Real Madrid will host Dutch opponents Ajax at Santiago Bernabeu as Real Madrid are leading 2-1 from the first leg held in Amsterdam.</p>    <p>A late winner scored by Real Madrid's Spanish midfielder Marco Asensio made Spanish side grasp the advantage for the second leg.</p>    <p>Real Madrid's Spanish central defender Sergio Ramos is suspended for the return match in Madrid.</p>    <p>Ajax manager Erik ten Hag thinks Real Madrid may lack Ramos against them. </p>  <p>&quot;Sergio Ramos is suspended. I think he is the boss on the pitch and in the back line. Him being absent is not only a tactical loss for them but also a mental one,&quot; Ten Hag said.</p>    <p>&quot;There is always belief. Faith is the last thing you lose. We are determined. Danimarka Eşitlik Kurulu'ndan yapılan açıklamaya göre, 6 Kasım 2018'de Almanya'nın Gelsenkirchen kentinde oynanan Şampiyonlar Ligi D grubu Schalke 04 – Galatasaray maçı için bir seyahat acentesinden paket turu almak isteyen 27 yaşındaki bir kişiye, ismi Türk ismine benzediği gerekçesiyle Schalke 04 tribünlerinden bilet satışı yapılamayacağı, yapılsa bile biletin kontrol noktasından elinden alınacağı bildirildi.

Genç taraftar, biletinin tribüne girerken elinden alınmasının tamamen kendisini bağlayan bir durum olduğunu ve bileti almak istediğini belirtse de acente, kendisinden "nasılsa elinden alınacağı için biletinden feragat ettiğine" yönelik bir belge imzalamasını istedi.

Tur şirketinden bilet alamayan ismi açıklanmayan taraftar ise ayırımcılığa uğradığı gerekçesiyle Danimarka Eşitlik Kurulu'na başvurdu.

Gencin ayırımcılığa uğradığına hükmeden kurul tarafından, seyahat acentesinin başvuru sahibine 5 bin kron (3 bin 970 lira) tazminat ödemesine karar verildi.

UEFA Champions League knockouts to start on Tuesday

UEFA names top young players of 2018 Champions League

             By Fatih Erel</p>    <p>ISTANBUL (AA) - The UEFA on Friday picked out a team of young football players of the UEFA Champions League this calendar year.</p>    <p>A 21-year-old Turkish footballer Cengiz Under, who plays for Italy's Roma, was also in the 2018 Breakthrough Team of UEFA.</p>    <p>He &quot;helped Roma to last season's semis and has kicked on this term thanks to his pace, creativity and lethal left foot. Scored three group goals,&quot; UEFA said on its website.</p>    <p>The players were selected by the criteria of aged 24 or under and UEFA Champions League debut in 2018 or only limited prior experience and made a major leap this year.
