ANKARA (AA) – Swiss tennis star Roger Federer advanced to the third round in Wimbledon after beating Richard Gasquet from France on Thursday.
The eight-time Wimbledon champion, 39, sealed the victory in straight sets 7-6, 6-1 and 6-4, becoming the oldest player to qualify for the third round.
In another game in men's singles, Nick Kyrgios of Australia defeated Italian Gianluca Mager with the sets of 7-6, 6-4 and 6-4, moving to the third round.
Meanwhile, No. 4 Alexander Zverev from Germany eased past Tennys Sandgren of the US with 7-5, 6-2 and 6-3 in the second round.

No. 3 Elina Svitolina said good bye to Wimbledon after losing to Magda Linette from Poland in the second round.
Linette beat her Ukrainian opponent 6-3 and 6-4 to reach the third round.
