Israel speeds up detentions after stabbing in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM (AA) – Israeli police forces and intelligence units Monday raided multiple areas and detained eight Palestinians in Jerusalem, including elders and children, following Sunday's stabbing attack, according to Jerusalem Families Committee Chairman Amced Abu Asab.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency on Monday, Asab said Israeli authorities accused the detainees, who were allegedly present where the stabbing happened, of “not doing anything to stop the incident “.

“Abdurrahman Sanduqa (14), Halid Ammar Ganim (21), Ferna Deane (67), Zuheyr Deane (62), Rami Abdusselam (37), Saad Katine (35), Omer Avd (20), Mohammed al-Bakri (20) were detained. The detained Palestinians are interrogated by the Israeli intelligence units in the Investigation Center in Al-Masqubiya, which is northwest Jerusalem, ” he said.

An Israeli security guard was fatally injured in an alleged stabbing attack in East Jerusalem, then he was reported dead in the hospital. Abdurrahman Beni Fazil, the Palestinian who allegedly stabbed the Israeli guard, was killed by the Israeli soldiers right after the incident.

Israeli security forces on Monday raided Beni Fazil's family house, located in southeastern Nablus city, and interrogated Fazil's relatives in an open field.

Abdurrahman, Fazil's uncle, stated that the Israeli soldiers measured the size and length of their house and told him that their house would later be demolished.

Without an official statement by either Israeli or Palestinian officials, international media outlets Sunday covered the story with false information regarding the incident.

Media outlets such as BBC Turkish and Euronews have manipulated the incident by claiming the attacker was a Turkish citizen.
