Anadolu Agency answers call to donate blood

ANKARA (AA) – Anadolu Agency Deputy Director General and Editor-in-Chief Metin Mutanoglu said that the agency had answered the call of Turkish Red Crescent President Kerem Kinik to donate blood as stocks in Turkey were running low.

“Anadolu Agency took to the streets during the July 15th coup attempt […] with its news and visual output,” said Mutanoglu who added the agency also aimed to be an integral part of Turkish society by answering calls to donate blood.

“Many correspondents, editors, photo correspondents of the agency are donating blood, so we are very happy. We [the management] will also follow suit,” he added.

Mustafa Ozkaya, Anadolu Agency’s Deputy Director General, also stressed the importance of donating blood and invited all to become regular blood donors.

Mehmet Gulluoglu, Turkish Red Crescent’s general manager has warned of a decrease in blood stocks and reiterated the call for an emergency blood donation.

“We are close to the desired level but we want it to be better,” he said. “Every winter, our blood stocks recurrently fall below a certain level, but surgeries and […] sicknesses do not stop.”

“Anadolu Agency is special for us,” he added. “it is the institution that tells the world what we do. The blood donation made today is very important in being a model and example. This collaboration strengthens us.”
