Turkey's external debt stock reached $445B at 2018-end

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's gross external debt stock reached $444.9 billion at the end of December 2018, the Treasury and Finance Ministry announced Friday.

The figure was 56.7 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP), a report from the ministry showed.

Turkey’s net foreign debt stock reached $280.3 billion as of Dec. 31, accounting for 35.8 percent of the country's GDP.

Loans under guarantee of the Treasury stood at $13.9 billion in the same period.

EU-defined general government debt stock was around $212 billion (1.2 trillion liras) — 30.4 percent of GDP — at the end of December 2018.
