11 PKK terrorists killed in southeast Turkey operations

ANKARA (AA) – Security forces killed 11 PKK terrorists in two separate operations in southeast Turkey on Wednesday, Turkish military said Thursday.

According to Turkish General Staff’s statement posted on its website, six terrorists were killed in an operation in Mardin province’s Nusaybin district, putting the death toll there to 366 since operations began.

Security forces also destroyed 17 improvised explosive devices in the operation.

In Sirnak province, five more PKK terrorists were killed, bringing the number of terrorists killed there to 340 since operations began.

The army also said five explosives were defused in Wednesday’s operation in the province.

Also, security forces detained 13 people in Hakkari province’s Cukurca district.

PKK — listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S., and EU — resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, more than 440 security personnel, including troops, police officers and village guards have been martyred, and more than 4,500 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
