Sudan says plane hijacking attempt thwarted

KHARTOUM (AA) – Sudanese authorities said an attempt to hijack a plane en route from Cairo to Khartoum was thwarted, according to the official SUNA news agency on Tuesday.

A passenger had attempt to force his way into the flight deck to hijack the plane, but he was brought under control by the plane crew with the plane landing safely at the Khartoum Airport, the agency said.

According to the news agency, the hijacker had been deported from Egypt for violating immigration rules, without giving further details.

The hijacker was arrested by Sudanese authorities for questioning.
