UPDATE – Car bombings kill 2, injure dozens in northern Syria

UPDATES WITH MORE ATTACKS</p> <p>By Adham Kako and Omer Koparan </p> <p>AZAZ, Syria (AA) – At least one person was killed and 21 others were injured in a car bombing in the opposition-held Azaz town in northern Syria on Wednesday, according to the White Helmets civil defense agency. </p> <p>The explosion struck near a local hospital in the town, it said. </p> <p>Rescuers from the White Helmets and the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) rushed to the scene of the attack to search for survivors. </p> <p>Several buildings, including a primary school, were affected by the bombing. </p> <p>Several hours later, similar attacks were carried out in Cobanbey town, near the Turkish border, and Al-Bab city, leaving one person dead and 16 others injured. </p> <p>The attacks came on a day when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced to launch new military operation on east of Euphrates river, northern Syria. </p> <p>No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. </p> <p>Syria has only just begun to emerge from a devastating conflict that began in 2011 when the Bashar al-Assad regime cracked down on demonstrators with unexpected ferocity.
