ANKARA (AA) – At least 14 security personnel have been abducted near border with Pakistan, according to the Iranian television on Tuesday.

The personnel were abducted by “terrorists” in the city of Mirjaveh in the southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, the television said.

The abductees include five border guards, seven members of Basij militia and two members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

The abduction was quickly claimed by a group calling itself Jaish ul-Adl (Army of Justice), which is active in the province.

The abductees are believed to have been smuggled into Pakistani territory.

Meanwhile, the IRGC called on the Pakistani government to deal with the “terrorists” who abducted the security personnel.

“We expect Pakistan to confront these terrorist groups that are supported by some regional states and immediately release the kidnapped Iranian forces, ” the IRGC said in a statement carried on state television.

Jaish ul-Adl — designated as a terrorist group by Iran — is an opposition group which says it aims to protect the rights of Sunni Baloch people.

In April 2017, the group abducted an Iranian soldier before releasing him four months later.
