Turkish stocks start week looking up

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.27%, or 302.54 points, to start the week at 111,479.29 points on Monday.

On Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went up 0.52% to 111,176.75 points with a daily trading volume of 10.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.9400 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, up from 5.9390 at last week's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate slightly rose to 6.5890, versus 6.5860, and one British pound traded for 7.7530 Turkish liras, while it was 7.7580 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $65.89 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
